Day 2 Fitness Challenge: Rollerskating

Could you tell I was EXCITED to skate?

We were having so much fun…..until… big toes were getting jammed in my daughter’s skates causing major discomfort. It’s time for me to get a pair of my own skates, because I can see myself doing this on a more consistent basis.

Why Rollerskate?

Rollerskating is PERFECT  cardio  and super great because you don’t get the heavy impact on the joints.

According to a study conducted at the University of Massachusetts, in-line skating causes less than 50 percent of the impact shock to joints compared to running.

So, if you are someone who says you can’t get your cardio in because of your joints you may want to try this.

Not only is it super FUN, but it gets you outdoors and in the fresh air and sunlight. You’ll strengthen your heart, improve your coordination and balance, not to mention you’ll get a ridiculously sexy lower body!

Today’s Workout:
60 min Zumba Class
Rollerskating – maybe 30 min or so until my toes were hurtin’ for certain!

  1. I LOOOOOOOOVE rollerblading! my favorite form of cardio. There is a big park next to my house and every day around 5 pm I hit it with my skates, pads, and headphones in. Weight just falls off if I do it regularly! I don’t even consider it “work”! So yeah, get yourself some skates for sure!

  2. i wish i had my rollerblades…they are still in germany. but the roads here in brooklyn are bad anyway…i get my cardio by pushing my baby’s stroller for a few hours a day for now… 😉
    morning: 45 minutes walking + bodyweight exercise at the playground
    push ups 5×10
    pull ups 10-7-6-6-5
    hanging knee raises 5×10
    upside down hanging cruches 5×10… abs really hurt

    afternoon: 2 hours walking

  3. I agree “San Dra” – wish I had rollerblades and a area locally where I could blade if I did.

    Workout: earlier today I did a 45 minute walk/run with a dear friend … and tonight I did Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred along with 10 minutes of ab excercises : )

      Nice workout! How do you like the shred workout? How long have you been doing it? In winter I am considering more home workout videos!

  4. Today’s workout was an hour run on the treadmill at lunchtime watching US Open Tennis. But I do try to get my Vit D in the fresh air and sunshine most mornings and afternoons by walking to work and back home. If the weekends are sunny I like to spend some time outside soaking it in. I LOVE the feel of the sun!

  5. Had a great yoga workout.  Was able to properly touch my toes from a seated fold for the first time ever.  Also really nailed dancer which has always been a challenge for me.  Keep up the work everyone!

  6. I LOOOOVE to rollerblade and rollerskate!  Just broke the tongue on my skates about a month ago (i’ve owned them about 20 years, so i think it was time for a new pair, right?!)  Did some yoga and a night walk today!!  Keep up the good work!
