How I Handle Failure

Posted By on Dec 14, 2011

Have you ever felt frustrated with the results you are trying to get in your life?
Have you ever felt like giving up?
Have you ever felt like you aren’t good enough?

If so, keep reading…

I know I have had my fair share of those experiences, however I know how to pick myself up and keep moving forward. Watch this video to see how I handle failure. Also check out how I empowered my daughter as well when she felt like giving up.

I like sharing things that I have felt insecure about because it reminds us that we all experience this from time to time and to remember it is not a permanent state.

I remember feeling like a failure in blogging when I stopped making videos back in 2010 & I hardly posted anything. However, I picked myself up and started back at it. Even cooler, now I am serving people whom I would have never bumped into in my local community thanks for the internet.

I remember feeling like a failure when it came to broken romantic relationships, but I have learned how to keep loving anyway. I am thankful I keep an open heart and see the beauty in the experiences of love itself.

I remember feeling like a failure when I was hardly eating any raw food and eating mostly junk, but I just start again with my green smoothies for breakfast.

When I feel like I am just not getting it, I ask myself, ” Have I done this a thousand times?” If not, I give myself a break and keep on going! 😉

I’d love to hear in the comments below what you kept practicing at and are glad you didn’t give up!

I couldn’t let another holiday season go by without addressing the dilema many put themselves into during the holiday season by making purchases on credit cards. I feel being financially responsible and a conscious consumer is THE BEST way to avoid the holiday stress. This funny SNL skit sums it up perfectly. If that doesn’t then watching “The Story of Stuff” might do the trick!

In addition, I am a fan of Leo of Zen Habits and we share a common practice of not getting into consumer hysteria. He challenges everyone to make it a no new gifts holiday season. Read his article HERE.

Lastly, I find it a powerful practice to turn around the focus and really help others in need. I personally have a huge soft spot for children. Tonight my children and I reached out to an organization called “Temecula Valley People Helping People“. It serves all the children in foster homes or who are without any parents in the local county. There were so many stacks of postcards of children who are without their families. When we reach outside ourself  then we are given the most priceless gift of all: compassion and fulfillment.  Perhaps, this shift is all that is needed during this holiday season.

Challenge: Do not purchase anything on credit this season. Can you do it? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Always,

I’m chillin’ at home with my kiddos this week who are home from school during the holiday. Mehgan is now 4 weeks into her sewing classes and has been sewing all day. Alex is hanging out with his cousins from out of town.

I know it’s Thanksgiving week, but we are keeping the meal low key. No more crazy culinary nightmares like we once had. Just ask me about the time I had butternut squash soup on the ceiling and the turkey in the bathtub. NO JOKE.

However, one ritual we do keep is to write out a rampage of gratitude and appreciation, even for the tiniest things. I personally do this several times a week. Sometimes I go for days on end pouring with gratitude.

When I stop this practice I find I can get off track a bit….like you see in the video when I had an emotional moment of LACK and I became jealous of someone else. Yes… lil ol’ me was having a moment like we all do. It’s just a matter of how quickly we stay there and how we shift to allow it to serve us.

I love sharing the realness of life and how we can use everything as fuel to transform our lives.

Let me know your insights in the comments below!

Love ya and have a fantastic holiday.
